We all heard about yoga and most of us doing regularly but very less people know about different types of yoga. I think before doing yoga we must have know history of yoga and why we are doing ? For this reason I am posting some valuable information here.
Basic Four Yogas classified as follows:
1.Bhakti Yoga ( भक्ति योग )
2.Karma Yoga ( कर्म योग )
3.Jnana Yoga (ज्ञान योग )
4.Raja Yoga ( राज योग )
Its Also called as classic Yogas. A large amount of literature has been written on these four classes of Yoga. Similarly, a number of subsystems have also come out of these four classes. To go deep into all of them is very time consuming and difficult so here is short description of four basic yoga
- 1) Bhakti Yoga is for those who are very sensitive and can attach themselves to a deity. They should be capable of surrendering everything to that deity and they will ultimately reach the stage of realization from the intensity of devotion and strong faith
- 2) Karma Yoga means action or deed. Any physical or mental action is Karma. Thinking is mental Karma. Karma is the sum total of our acts, both in the present life and in the preceding births.
- 3) Jnana Yoga is meant for those who are superior in intellect to analyze everything in meditation and come to a conclusion, thereby gradually taken to the level of Samadhi and realization
- 4) Raja Yoga is a combined aspect of the above three including some other sections.it is primarily concerned with the mind. Mantra yoga, Hatha Yoga and Ashtanga Yoga comes under this section.
Mantra Yoga (मंत्र योग ) is the intensive chanting of the Mantra in a specific manner as advised by the Guru. This results in the fusion of mental and physical energy with cosmic energy and makes the practitioner ready for Samadhi state.
Hatha Yoga (हठ योग ) is purely action oriented and has its own merits. Its starts his Sadhana ( साधना)with Asanas(योगासने) and Pranayama (प्राणायाम). There are various sub parts in this type of Yoga. This type of Yoga has become famous across the world. Now a days all peoples generally doing Hatha yoga. The Kriya Yoga forms a subsection of this Yoga. Kundalini Yoga is an advanced practice of Kriya Yoga
Actually this is very small introduction of different types of yoga. I will try in future to give more specific and important information.
